We arrived late Saturday, around 8 pm after sitting on the tarmack for an hour on Maui. Then we made the hour long drive to our cottage in Waimea, Kauai, checked in, then went grocery shopping. All the restaurants were closed. This seems even more like the land of mañana than New Mexico.
On Sunday, our first full day in Kauai, we made our own breakfast, then headed for the beach. We didn't stay long. The surf was VERY strong. We took a couple selfies, Face Timed a couple folks, got thrashed by waves, then drove back. After rinsing the water from all our secret places, we went to town for lunch at the shrimp station and dessert at the fruit stand. Back at the cottage, we took a nap and made arrangements for another snorkel trip to take place on Tuesday.
